Created as a loop to run along the end credits of a short documentary about stray dogs living in the small town of Conocoto, Ecuador.
A shadow, a fading print.
The style of this project draws inspiration from a key theme in the documentary: the presence we take for granted and the mark left by those we unknowingly share our lives with.

CC: “And if they don’t return, if I don’t see them anymore”

CC: “One understands that they too can disappear forever”

The frames were drawn using dry pastels on Wenzhou paper to get a feathery texture, then scanned and edited digitally.
The dusty, scratchy feel of the loop fits the analog quality of the documentary and the dusty streets it’s set in.

The orange color of the dog was chosen to reference a type of stray common to the region.
